The competition

From the great Giorgio Morandi to today’s young talents.
Umberto Cesari Art Contest was born from Umberto Cesari’s desire to promote emerging artists and new talents by offering them the opportunity to propose a new look to the MOMA line dedicated to the world of art.
It all started with the first label of the bottle on which a work by one of the greatest masters of twentieth-century Italian painting was reproduced: the great Giorgio Morandi . Hence the idea of giving continuity to this artistic duo by creating a contest every four years.
The first edition of the competition took place in 2011 in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna and the Academy of Fine Arts of Ravenna, and saw Elena Valentini triumph with Paper Glass.
The second edition took place in 2015 with the partnership of UQAM, the Academy of Fine Arts of Urbino and the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice. The winning work was Futurwine by Donatella Carollo.
Finally, the third edition took place in 2019 ; The winning work is currently reproduced on the labels of the MOMA wine line, Golden Glass by Beatrice Pani.
