In the early 1960s, Umberto Cesari purchased 20 hectares of vineyards and began the challenge of a lifetime: to make Sangiovese an excellent wine, loved throughout the world.
Umberto Cesari was among the first in Emilia Romagna to focus on this grape variety and the typical varieties of the region, capable of producing extraordinary grapes, such as Albana di Romagna, Trebbiano and Pignoletto, to which important international varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc have been added over time.
The company currently includes 12 Estates in the hilly area between Castel San Pietro Terme and Montecatone di Imola, all managed according to the dictates of sustainable viticulture. Currently, 30% of the vineyards are converted to organic.
Umberto Cesari has put its signature on a production process that combines the value of human experience with the most innovative techniques; each single phase takes shape in the vineyards and cellars owned by the company, a short supply chain entirely managed by highly experienced company personnel with the use of the most modern technologies always respecting tradition that allows to guarantee control over the entire production process and therefore the high quality of the wine.
